History
The History of Windsor
Formally known as Windsor Homes, the history of Windsor Building Systems dates back to 1971 as a truss and wall component building company. The company was founded by Len Linzmeier, whose philosophies formed the basis of the company, while Jim Ballweg, then Vice President, guided the development of the company’s truss manufacturing division.
2004 – Amwood Homes Inc. Purchase
In 2004, Amwood Homes, Inc. purchased the assets of Windsor and structured it as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amwood. The company was then re-named to Windsor Building Systems. The transition from the former operation was accomplished very smoothly, utilizing the knowledge and expertise of key personnel.
2014 – The Fire
Tragedy hit in January of 2014 when a fire destroyed the original truss building. The plant was successfully rebuilt and is now a state-of- the-art facility, implementing the latest technology in truss and component production.
Today
The longevity, dedication, and experience of our employees is something to take pride in, as a number of Windsor employees working for the company today were employed with the company since its early days.
Communication served as the foundation of the Windsor Homes philosophy, and that holds true to this day, with both Windsor employees and customers. The Windsor name maintains its focus on quality, and the business works hard to continue its growth throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest.
